Preservation
Lower Manhattan Emergency Preservation Fund
The Lower Manhattan Emergency Preservation Fund (LMEPF), a consortium of
five prominent historic preservation organizations, was formed in response
to the events of September 11th. The LMEPF provided grants and technical
support for the restoration of historic properties in Lower Manhattan affected
by the World Trade Center disaster.
National
Trust for Historic Preservation
The Survivors' Stairway was named to the National Trust for Historic
Preservation List of 11 Most Endangered Historic Places. The National
Trust provides leadership, education, advocacy, and resources to save America's
diverse historic places and revitalize our communities.
New York Landmarks Conservancy
The Landmarks Conservancy, as a member of the Lower Manhattan Emergency Preservation
Fund (LMEPF), has worked successfully with Lower
Manhattan Development Corporation (LMDC) and other preservation and civic
groups to have the World Trade Center Site determined eligible for listing on
the National Register of Historic Places.
Planning Organizations
American Planning Association
The APA is a nonprofit public interest and research organization committed
to urban, suburban, regional, and rural planning.
Civic Alliance to Rebuild Downtown New York
The Civic Alliance is a broad-based coalition formed after 9/11 to provide
an “umbrella” for
civic planning and advocacy efforts in support of the rebuilding of Lower
Manhattan.
New York New Visions
NYNV is a coalition of architecture, planning, and design organizations
that came together immediately following the September 11 terrorist attacks
on the World Trade Center to address the rebuilding of lower Manhattan.
